Planning Permission

Often our clients are daunted with the whole planning process – what can be built, how it affects their neighbours and how it will be viewed by the local authority. That’s where our experience comes in.

In many circumstances, no formal planning consent is required for domestic extensions.

This process is called Permitted Development Rights. If your property is outside of specially designated areas, or not of special interest it is probable that any rear extension can go through this process.

If planning permission is required, using our extensive experience we can advise the most effective method to obtain permission or designing a solution to workaround restrictions to progress the best result.

We can also minimise the timescale taken in obtaining Planning Consents for you by getting it right first time.

Conservation Areas

Some properties are located within areas designated as Conservation Areas. This will put great emphasis on the appearance of any extension within the special appearance of the area.

Listed Buildings

Some properties are cherished in construction and details that they appear on the National listing of buildings with unique architectural heritage.

This doesn’t mean that you cannot carry out any extension or remedial works. Far from it – the modern interpretation is that by using properties as living spaces and by adapting to today’s lifestyles they will be preserved to a far greater degree rather than being left frozen at some distant point in time.
